Sambro Hot Lunch Program Information Sheet
The Sambro Hot Lunch Program is a completely volunteer run program that provides the option of a hot lunch for our
students. We strive to make nutritious meals that include some classic favorites and some new things for everyone to
try using fresh ingredients wherever possible. We operate with a fantastic team of volunteers and are always looking for
new people to join us.
The order forms are sent out in four-week blocks. They go home in students backpacks and copies are available on the
Sambro school website. Order forms are normally sent home the last week of the current menu on Monday and are
due back to the school by Thursday. The forms need to be back on time to allow for tallying the order numbers and
payments, making grocery lists, doing the grocery shopping for the following week, and getting the supplies delivered
and put away at school. This is all done by volunteers, on a fairly tight timeframe. If you miss the deadline, you can still
submit an order for the remaining three weeks of lunch.
The cost is $3.25 per meal. Payments this year will be made using the new payment portal, School Cash Online. It will
allow you to pay online and get a confirmation number which you put on the order form. This system is for payment
only, the paper copy of the order forms must be returned to the school as usual. We can not use the online system to
get the orders as it doesn’t allow us to add options, notes, or adjust for discounts from missed days or volunteering.
Some notes to keep in mind, if your child is absent on a day that they have ordered lunch, please feel free to deduct the
amount off their next order. Please consider sending a container or baggie with your child so they can bring home their
extra food if they are full or don’t have time to finish eating.
